I decided to help my students here to work on translating it for extra lessons in Portuguese (Portuguese originl put in full bellow). Portugal Day, officially Day of Portugal, Camoens, and the Portuguese Communities (Portuguese: Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas ), is the National Day of Portugal celebrated annually on June 10th. Romance in the sense of novel (defined by the novelist Walter Scott as "a fictitious narrative in prose or verse; the interest of which turns upon marvellous and uncommon incidents") instead of mainstream novels which realistically depict the state of a society (but most of them in historical genre novel), often confuses itself with early novel which in neo-Latin languages the novel is called le roman , il romanzo . The romance novel was an important category of the history of fiction. Portugal was not a very common setting of foreign fiction, but it appeared a bit more than one would think, since Portugal was both an ally of many states in Europe outside the Iberian Peninsula and a relatively "exotic" place to most of Europe.
